Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado has returned to Venezuela following more than 10 months in exile.
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado has returned to Venezuela following more than 10 months in exile, according to public statements from Machado and her political allies.
Writing on social media on Sunday, Machado confirmed her arrival by posting, "I am here. With you." Her political ally and former presidential candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, corroborated her return shortly after, announcing that Machado was back "on Venezuelan soil."
Machado's return follows months away from the country amid an uncertain political landscape and continued government pressure against opposition figures.
