US charges alleged Russian agents over overseas assassination and sabotage plots
United States prosecutors have charged five alleged Russian intelligence agents over global assassination and sabotage plots targeting supporters of Ukraine.
United States federal prosecutors have charged five alleged Russian intelligence operatives in connection with a global campaign of sabotage and targeted assassinations against supporters of Ukraine. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the network recruited individuals across North America and Europe to surveil and attack figures supporting Kyiv, including an operation in Prague in June 2024. All five suspects remain at large.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service stated that state-backed Russian actors conducted physical sabotage against Danish defense companies supplying military equipment to Ukraine. Danish authorities framed the acts as a direct escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy. Russian officials have not issued a public response to the allegations or charges.
