US charges five alleged Russian agents over assassination and sabotage plots
US prosecutors have charged five alleged Russian agents over assassination and sabotage plots in the US and Europe, while Denmark reported Russian sabotage on its defense firms.
United States federal prosecutors have unsealed charges against five alleged Russian intelligence operatives accused of organizing a global network to carry out assassinations and sabotage across North America and Europe. According to an indictment filed in a Manhattan court, the suspects funded recruits to surveil and assault individuals and organizations supporting Ukraine, including a June 2024 physical attack in Prague.
Concurrently, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service reported that Russian operatives executed physical sabotage operations against Danish defense companies producing equipment for Ukrainian forces. Danish officials described the incidents as a notable escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare campaign.
All five charged Russian operatives remain at large. Russian officials have not publicly commented on the US court filings or the Danish intelligence service's statements.
