Intense frontline battles persist as Ukraine advances near Kupyansk and Lyman
Ukrainian and Russian forces remain locked in heavy fighting across eastern and southern fronts, with conflicting claims of territorial control near Lyman, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia.
Intense combat operations continue across eastern and southern Ukraine, with the Ukrainian General Staff reporting over 250 daily engagements. Russian forces conducted dozens of assaults aiming to breach defensive lines near Lyman, Kostiantynivka, and Pokrovsk.
Ukrainian troops executed infantry sweeps north of Kupyansk along the Oskil River, using electronic warfare to suppress enemy drones, while military assessments indicate potential Ukrainian gains of up to 200 square kilometers around Lyman.
However, conflicting claims remain prominent across the front. Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported taking several settlements near Sumy, and Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov publicly denied Ukrainian progress in Zaporizhzhia. Ammunition facilities in the Kyiv region were also hit in recent long-range strikes.
