US delays Ukraine Patriot missile pact as drone strikes hit Russian warehouses
US envoy Matthew Whitaker confirmed a Patriot co-production deal with Ukraine is delayed past winter, as Ukrainian drone strikes hit logistics hubs across Russia.
A proposed pact between the United States and Ukraine to jointly manufacture Patriot air defence interceptor missiles will not be concluded ahead of the coming winter, according to US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker. In a televised interview, Whitaker noted that while Washington and European partners continue working on joint air defence initiatives, securing a long-term production agreement remains a protracted process.
Simultaneously, Ukrainian drone operations targeted logistics infrastructure across several Russian territories. Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed that an overnight strike on a warehouse complex near Moscow left at least five people dead and ten others injured. Local authorities also reported drone attacks on commercial distribution centres in the Saint Petersburg and Tver regions, while the Russian Defence Ministry claimed multiple overnight aerial interceptions.
