Russian overnight strikes hit Kyiv as reports detail North Korean deployments
A Russian missile and drone barrage caused dozens of casualties across the Kyiv region, as Ukrainian intelligence tracked North Korean troop and missile deployments in Russia.
Russian forces launched a coordinated overnight assault using ballistic missiles and drones against Kyiv and surrounding areas, leaving between 15 and 17 people dead and dozens wounded. Casualty reports varied among official monitoring channels and emergency services, with injury estimates ranging from 40 to 51 people amid structural damage and widespread blazes.
Simultaneously, Ukrainian military intelligence reported that an estimated 8,600 North Korean military personnel are currently stationed inside Russian territory. Officials further stated that a North Korean missile detachment has been deployed to Voronezh Oblast, reportedly supported by multiple mobile launcher systems and dozens of ballistic munitions designated for operations against Ukraine.
Elsewhere on the front line, Ukrainian troops continued clearing operations against Russian positions in Kupyansk and took captives along the Kostiantynivka axis, while Russian authorities signalled structural leadership changes within the defence ministry.
