Iran maintains Hormuz blockade as regional conflicts and diplomatic talks persist
Iran insists on U.S. concessions to end its Strait of Hormuz blockade, while Houthi attacks continue in the Red Sea and envoys press forward with Gaza peace talks.
Iran continues its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, with Tehran insisting that the United States honor all terms of a June memorandum, including sanctions relief, unfreezing foreign assets, and compensating for war damages. Meanwhile, Iranian authorities dismissed reports regarding the failing health of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, stating he recently met with President Masoud Pezeshkian and military commanders.
In Yemen, Houthi forces launched fresh strikes in the Red Sea, targeting the port of Mokha. Concurrently, international envoy Nickolay Mladenov urged support for the U.S.-backed Gaza peace roadmap following initial reservations from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Reports indicate Israeli forces have begun adjusting positions as diplomatic discussions move forward.
