Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated near the strategic Strait of Hormuz following series of military exchanges. According to US Central Command, American forces destroyed five vessels belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after Iranian forces attempted to target US naval ships. In response, Tehran launched 20 missiles aimed at American military facilities in Jordan.
Iranian state media claimed its forces successfully struck six vessels, including three tankers and a US aircraft carrier. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump insisted the waterway remains open and asserted that Tehran faces "great difficulty." However, US intelligence officials cautioned that the Revolutionary Guard could seek further escalation. Emergency responders managed to extinguish a fire on a damaged commercial tanker, allowing maritime traffic to continue under elevated security protocols.
