The U.S. intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles as President Trump announced new talks, though Iranian sources disputed U.S. claims regarding the negotiations.

The U.S. military reported intercepting several Iranian ballistic missiles aimed at American forces deployed in the Middle East, ending a brief period of calm. The escalation coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump announcing a new round of talks following his decision to postpone planned strikes against Iran.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian insisted that Washington must abide by existing framework agreements. Iranian state media also rejected Trump's claim that Tehran requested the delay. Concurrently, negotiations between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz are reportedly in their final stages, while Saudi Arabia announced a maritime security alliance in the Red Sea.

Despite the military exchanges, Asian oil markets dropped over 5% on hopes for a diplomatic solution. Trump claimed Iran is "almost defeated" and emphasized that the U.S. maintains extensive ammunition reserves.
