The US launched strikes on Iran's Larak Island as Qatari-mediated negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz continue despite new demands from Washington.

The United States carried out airstrikes against military targets on Iran's Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first direct American strikes on Iranian territory in a month. U.S. Central Command confirmed targeting two missile launchers, while Iranian state media reported six naval personnel were killed.

Despite the military action, Qatari-mediated diplomatic discussions remain active. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi communicated Tehran's conditions for reopening the strategic waterway to U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff. The terms include an immediate end to the American naval blockade, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, and a complete cessation of hostilities on all fronts.

Diplomatic prospects face added complications after U.S. President Donald Trump stated Washington would demand financial compensation from Iran for past casualties. Nevertheless, Qatari officials report that negotiations between both nations are still ongoing.
