Iranian state media subsequently claimed Tehran launched 20 missiles targeting US military positions in Jordan and struck six vessels, including three oil tankers and an aircraft carrier. American intelligence agencies warned that Iranian commanders might seek to further intensify the conflict. Despite the clashes, US President Donald Trump stated that Tehran is in "great difficulty" and that the critical shipping lane remains open after emergency crews contained a shipboard fire.
