Hostilities between the US and Iran have escalated near the Strait of Hormuz following strikes on naval vessels and military positions in Jordan.

Hostilities near the Strait of Hormuz have intensified following the collapse of a brief summer truce between the United States and Iran. According to U.S. Central Command, American forces destroyed five Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps vessels after intercepting an attempted attack on U.S. naval assets.

Tehran retaliated by firing 20 missiles at U.S. military bases in Jordan and claiming strikes on six maritime vessels, including three tankers and an aircraft carrier. U.S. intelligence officials warned that Iranian forces may escalate operations further. Meanwhile, emergency personnel successfully extinguished a fire aboard an impacted tanker.

Despite the ongoing military exchanges, U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that the strategic shipping lane remains open, claiming Iran is experiencing severe difficulties.
