UN member states agreed on a definition for autonomous weapons as Germany, NATO, and Ukraine advance military AI initiatives.

In Geneva, 128 UN member states established a shared definition for autonomous weapon systems, marking a key step in global regulation efforts. However, the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross cautioned against crossing a "moral red line" by enabling machines to independently target humans.

Concurrently, military adoption of artificial intelligence is advancing. Newly revealed concept documents show Germany's Ministry of Defence may allow semi-autonomous weapons to operate independently in specific scenarios, though officials maintain that "the decision on the use of military force remains with humans." Germany has also rejected US firm Palantir to develop an in-house AI platform for data analysis. Meanwhile, Ukraine and NATO have jointly developed two AI models to predict enemy drone trajectories and assist artillery planning.
