Ukrainian drone operators adapt to frontline realities in Zaporizhzhia
Ukrainian drone crews in the Zaporizhzhia region are using abandoned civilian homes as hidden operational bases to launch strikes and maintain communications.
Ukrainian drone operators from the 82nd Brigade's 1st Battalion continue to conduct reconnaissance and strike operations from abandoned residential properties near the Zaporizhzhia frontline. Serving as both living quarters and tactical command centers, these civilian structures allow small units to operate covertly while attempting to evade Russian aerial detection.
To conceal their operational footprint, troops disguise critical communications equipment, including Starlink satellite terminals, within unmaintained gardens and flowerbeds. The daily routine of these remote operators highlights the psychological burden and harsh realities of modern unmanned warfare along the southern front.
