Russian strikes spark mass displacement in Ukraine as winter evacuation calls grow and air defense shortages persist.

Intensified Russian drone and missile attacks across Ukraine have heightened civilian casualties and severely disrupted energy infrastructure. Following strikes that caused at least 14 deaths and more than 120 injuries at a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, civilian fatalities reached 437 in July—the highest monthly count since early 2022.

In southern Kherson, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin urged families and elderly residents to evacuate ahead of winter due to power grid threats. Meanwhile, eastern hubs like Lozova are receiving up to 300 internally displaced persons daily from the Donetsk region.

Amid persistent air defense shortages, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues requesting additional Patriot systems. Concurrently, authorities are conducting round-the-clock street checks to mobilize an estimated two million men avoiding military service.
