Ukrainian air defence strained as interceptor missile deliveries plummet to one-third

Deliveries of air defence interceptors to Ukraine have fallen to one-third of previous levels amid intensified Russian attacks, as the EU transfers €1.4B from frozen assets.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that international deliveries of critical air defence interceptor missiles have dropped to a third of levels seen last year. The shortage comes as Russian forces launched their third massive missile and drone attack within a week targeting Kyiv and surrounding regions. The strikes killed at least 15 people and injured over 50 others, damaging residential and industrial infrastructure. Ukrainian officials highlighted that depleted interceptor stocks severely limited defensive responses during the bombardments.
Concurrently, European Union support continues on political and financial fronts. Zelensky stated Ukraine has met all conditions required to open four additional negotiating chapter clusters for EU accession. Additionally, the EU transferred 1.4 billion euros to Ukraine, representing revenues generated from immobilized Russian central bank assets.
