Ukraine's former defense minister urges lawmakers to prepare for post-war elections

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called on parliament to lay the legal groundwork for future national elections once martial law is lifted. Ukrainian legislation currently prohibits holding votes while martial law remains active. President Zelensky’s administration maintains that organizing national elections during the ongoing war creates insurmountable security risks and logistical hurdles, particularly given the millions of citizens displaced domestically and overseas.
