President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of a sharp drop in air defense missile supplies while the EU unlocked €1.4 billion from immobilized Russian assets for Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that international deliveries of critical air defense interceptor missiles have dropped to a third of levels recorded in 2025. The shortage comes as Russian drone and missile strikes intensify against Kyiv and southern port infrastructure. To address the deficit, Zelensky conferred with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding options to acquire additional interceptors from partner nations.

Simultaneously, Zelensky announced that Kyiv has satisfied all required conditions to open four new negotiating clusters in its European Union accession process.

In parallel financial developments, the European Union transferred a fifth installment of €1.4 billion to Ukraine. The funds represent interest earned during the first half of 2026 on immobilized Russian Central Bank assets held under Western sanctions, with the full sum allocated to support Ukraine's defense and budget needs.
