Ukraine passes minority language education law to advance EU talks

Ukraine's parliament passed a minority language education law, fulfilling a key condition to unlock EU accession negotiations and ease long-standing diplomatic tension with Hungary.
The Ukrainian parliament has passed legislation securing educational rights in native languages for national minorities, with 266 lawmakers voting in favor.
The move represents a key milestone in Ukraine's European Union accession process. Last week, Hungary indicated it would cease blocking the opening of the second and third negotiation clusters provided the law was enacted. In addition to aiding EU integration, the legislation helps resolve long-standing diplomatic friction between Kyiv and Budapest, potentially clearing the way for a high-level meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Hungarian political leaders.
