Ukraine hits Siberian refinery as Russian strikes batter eastern regions

Ukraine has extended its long-range strike capabilities deep into Russian territory, hitting an oil refinery in Tobolsk, Siberia, located more than 2,500 kilometers from the border. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the operation, stating that continuing deep strikes aims to demonstrate to Russian citizens the need to end the war.

Concurrently, intense Russian bombardments caused civilian casualties and severe infrastructure disruptions across Ukraine. Official reports confirmed at least three deaths and nine injuries across eastern regions, including fatalities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. In the northern Chernihiv region, power grid damage left approximately 99,000 subscribers without electricity. Further east in Donetsk Oblast, relentless artillery and aerial bombings have heavily depopulated the frontline city of Druzhkivka, reducing its pre-war population of nearly 56,000 to under 4,000 residents.
