Military exchanges between the United States and Iran near the Strait of Hormuz have intensified following reciprocal strikes. According to US Central Command, American forces destroyed five Iranian military vessels after an attempted attack on US naval ships in the area. In response, Iranian state media reported that Tehran launched 20 missiles targeting American bases in Jordan and claimed to have struck six vessels, including an aircraft carrier and three tankers.
While US President Donald Trump insisted that the maritime corridor remains open and that Tehran is facing severe hardship, American intelligence reports cautioned that Iranian commanders may feel emboldened to escalate hostilities further. Meanwhile, emergency crews successfully contained a fire aboard one damaged vessel.
