Iranian state media claims missile strikes hit six vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, while US President Donald Trump insists the key shipping route remains open.

Tehran has claimed responsibility for missile attacks targeting six vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, including three commercial oil tankers and three U.S. naval ships. According to Iranian state media, the strikes also targeted American aircraft carriers in response to recent military operations. Emergency responders successfully extinguished a fire aboard one of the hit tankers.

U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed Tehran's claims, maintaining that the vital maritime passage remains open and stating that Iran is in "great difficulty." However, intelligence reports from Washington warned that commanders within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps feel emboldened, increasing risks of broader regional escalation. The latest hostilities follow months of military clashes, including joint U.S.-Israeli bombardments in February and a subsequent 14-point memorandum signed in June.
