Former Slovenian national team captain Aleš Čeh and striker Jan Mlakar have offered perspectives on their careers and domestic rivalries in recent interviews.

Čeh, who captained Slovenia during its historic international period under manager Srečko Katanec, reflected on his extensive coaching career. Having served over ten years as Katanec's assistant, including seven years working in Asia, Čeh highlighted his lingering connection to Olimpija Ljubljana and Austrian club Grazer AK while maintaining strong respect for Maribor.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Ljubljana native Jan Mlakar confirmed his third stint with Maribor as he pursues his first league championship with the club. Mlakar refuted past transfer rumors regarding a potential move to hometown rivals Olimpija, stating he was never close to joining them. He added that although Olimpija currently faces internal challenges, derby matches remain inherently unpredictable.
