Seven oil tankers damaged in Strait of Hormuz amid mounting maritime crisis

Seven oil tankers have been damaged in the Strait of Hormuz, leaving thousands of seafarers trapped and causing an oil spill on UAE beaches.
Maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz has severely deteriorated following reports from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that seven oil tankers were damaged overnight. Iranian state media stated four vessels were struck while transferring oil along unauthorized routes, while three others hit naval mines.
The International Maritime Organization warned that roughly 6,000 seafarers remain trapped near the critical waterway, reporting 24 attacks on commercial ships within two weeks. Meanwhile, environmental impacts are escalating after an oil spill from the targeted tanker Gem No. 2 reached the United Arab Emirates coastline, prompting beach closures.
