Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić conceded defeat in Sunday's snap election, with the opposition Student List projected to win a parliamentary majority.
Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has conceded defeat following Sunday's snap parliamentary election, marking a major political shift after twelve years in power as prime minister and president. Preliminary projection data indicates that the opposition Student List movement secured between 135 and 140 seats in the 250-member parliament, comfortably surpassing the 126-seat threshold required to form a majority. Vučić’s ruling coalition is expected to hold around 105 seats.
The election drew record voter turnout following a wave of anti-government protests over the past two years. Addressing supporters in Belgrade, Vučić acknowledged the opposition's victory, triggering crowds to gather and celebrate across the capital's streets. Official final results remain to be formally published by electoral authorities.
