Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has formally resigned, clearing the path for early presidential elections within 90 days.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić formally announced his resignation on September 27, stepping down seven months before the official end of his second five-year term. The decision precedes snap parliamentary elections scheduled for October 25 and triggers an early presidential vote.

Under the national constitution, Vučić is barred from seeking a third consecutive term in office. Former Speaker of Parliament Ana Brnabić has assumed duties as interim president to manage state affairs during the political transition.

The early presidential election must be organized within 90 days of the resignation. Serbia's national legislature was previously dissolved, placing the administration under caretaker leadership as the country prepares for both electoral contests.
