Ségolène Royal secures endorsements for the left-wing primary, joining Socialist leader Olivier Faure in the October contest.

Former French presidential candidate Ségolène Royal has secured the required endorsements to participate in the upcoming left-wing primary organized by the Socialist Party and Place Publique. Her qualification completes a seven-candidate lineup for the two-round contest scheduled for October.

Socialist Party First Secretary Olivier Faure has also formally joined the primary field. Meanwhile, Communist Party leader Fabien Roussel declined to participate in the joint contest, opting instead to launch an independent bid for the 2027 presidential election.
