Russian drone and missile strikes killed at least 17 people across Ukraine, as Moscow claimed the capture of two Donetsk settlements amid heavy front-line combat.

Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine have killed at least 17 people and injured dozens, according to regional officials and emergency services.

Strikes targeting Kyiv and its surrounding region set off multiple fires in industrial and residential areas, resulting in heavy casualties. Further casualties were reported in Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia. In Dnipropetrovsk, five deaths and 16 injuries occurred following nearly 60 bombardments across five districts. A separate drone strike on a gas station near Kryvyi Rih killed three people, including an eight-year-old child.

Meanwhile, along the eastern front line, Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed its forces captured Vasyutinske and Toretsk in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian military leadership acknowledged intense ongoing combat in the sector without confirming the loss of either settlement.
