Escalating Russian attacks in Ukraine cause rising civilian casualties and infrastructure damage as officials urge evacuations and seek additional air defense.

Russian strikes across Ukraine have intensified, driving civilian casualties to levels unseen since the war's initial months, with at least 437 deaths reported in July. A recent double missile strike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih left at least 14 people dead and over 120 injured. Facing widespread destruction of energy infrastructure, Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin urged vulnerable residents, particularly families with children and the elderly, to evacuate before winter.

Meanwhile, transit hubs like Lozova receive up to 300 displaced persons daily from Donetsk. Domestically, Ukrainian recruitment officers continue street mobilisations to address severe manpower shortages, as an estimated two million men evade conscription. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Western allies to supply Patriot air defense systems to counter the strikes.
