Russian attacks escalate across Ukraine as civilian evacuations increase
Russian forces have intensified strikes across Ukraine, prompting calls for civilian evacuations in Kherson and urgent appeals for Western air defense systems.
Russian military forces have escalated strikes across Ukraine, targeting urban infrastructure and civilian areas in cities including Kherson, Kharkiv, and Kryvyi Rih. A double-strike on a Kryvyi Rih shopping center killed at least 14 people and injured over 120.
Following repeated attacks, Kherson Regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin urged families and elderly residents to evacuate due to risks of prolonged power and heating outages. Simultaneously, cities like Lozova are receiving hundreds of daily evacuees fleeing the Donetsk region.
The relentless bombardment has prompted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to renew appeals for Western air defense systems ahead of winter. Domestically, Ukrainian authorities are also stepping up enforcement of military mobilization to address manpower shortages.
