Russia-Ukraine strikes persist as NATO activity reported near Kaliningrad

Cross-border attacks between Russia and Ukraine have escalated alongside reports of NATO military activity near Kaliningrad.
Cross-border attacks between Russia and Ukraine have continued to escalate alongside reports of heightened NATO military movement around Russia's Kaliningrad enclave. Overnight Russian ballistic missile strikes targeted Kyiv, killing at least two people and injuring six, following prior strikes on an industrial facility in northern Ukraine.
In response, Ukrainian drones hit commercial targets in Russia's Samara and Saratov regions, igniting a fire at the Kuibyshev oil refinery. Samara officials stated air defenses intercepted numerous drones aimed at industrial facilities.
Concurrently, German media reported a U.S.-led NATO operation near Kaliningrad involving American and Norwegian aircraft as well as Polish ground forces. NATO described its actions as routine efforts to maintain alliance readiness.
