Russia and Ukraine exchange strikes as NATO increases activity near Kaliningrad

Cross-border military engagements between Russia and Ukraine have intensified alongside increased NATO operational activity near Kaliningrad. Russian forces executed overnight ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv, killing at least two people and injuring six others, following earlier drone attacks on a British American Tobacco facility in northern Ukraine.

In response, Ukrainian long-range drones targeted industrial infrastructure across Russia's Saratov and Samara regions. Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishev reported that air defenses intercepted dozens of incoming drones, though a fire broke out at the Kuibyshev oil refinery.

Concurrently, US-led NATO operations took place near Russia's Kaliningrad exclave, deploying American and Norwegian fighter jets, reconnaissance aircraft, and Polish ground forces. NATO representatives stated the alliance remains defensive and operates to consistently refine its operational readiness.
