Netanyahu rejects US-backed Gaza peace plan as reconstruction begins in south

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a US-backed 15-point peace plan for Gaza, while tacitly approving reconstruction in areas outside Hamas control.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally rejected a 15-point post-war Gaza disarmament proposal presented by a US-led Peace Committee. Netanyahu reiterated that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the enclave until Hamas is completely disarmed, while also firmly ruling out the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Following the rejection, Hamas representatives indicated readiness to advance to the next phase of the American framework, urging Washington to exert pressure on Israel to secure its compliance.
Meanwhile, Israeli reports indicate that Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have tacitly authorized preliminary infrastructure and reconstruction work in areas of southern Gaza outside Hamas control, despite previous pledges to halt rebuilding until disarmament is achieved.
