Iran threatens regional retaliation as US prepares new economic measures

Iran has warned neighboring nations against aiding upcoming US economic actions, while maintaining a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz to demand sanctions relief.
Iran has warned neighboring states that it will target their interests if they cooperate with Washington's forthcoming economic measures against Tehran. The warning, issued by Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, follows US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's announcement of upcoming financial actions.
Simultaneously, Iranian hardliners continue to maintain a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz to demand full adherence to a 14-point memorandum agreed upon in June, which includes sanctions relief, unfrozen assets, and the lifting of Iranian port blockades. Meanwhile, an Iranian military source dismissed US assertions that recent strikes on Larak Island successfully prevented Iranian forces from laying naval mines in the strategic waterway, calling the claim "pure fantasy".
