Iran threatens neighbours as US launches economic campaign
Tehran warns neighbouring nations against assisting a new US economic campaign while maintaining its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump has launched an economic isolation campaign against Iran aimed at resolving ongoing diplomatic stagnation. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is scheduled to present detailed financial measures on Monday.
In response, Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei warned that Tehran will strike the regional interests of neighboring states that assist the US economic strategy.
Simultaneously, Iranian forces continue their blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials have rejected proposals limited strictly to restoring maritime traffic, maintaining that the transit corridor will only reopen upon the full implementation of June's 14-point memorandum. That agreement required complete sanctions relief, the unfreezing of Iranian assets abroad, and the lifting of port restrictions.
