Iran and Oman have agreed on a new navigation route in the Strait of Hormuz as diplomatic efforts continue to resolve the regional maritime crisis.

Iran has reached an agreement with Oman regarding a new navigation route for ships passing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian diplomatic spokesperson Esmaïl Baghaï. Iranian official news media reported that geographic coordinates for the proposed route have been finalized, with both nations preparing a joint statement. Baghaï noted that the arrangement depends on external actors not interfering with the process.

The maritime corridor has been blocked amidst renewed hostilities between Iran and the United States. While Washington and mediator Qatar expressed hope for a broader deal to reopen the waterway, Tehran maintains its focus on regional transit management with neighboring Oman.
