Iran and Oman agree on Hormuz shipping corridor as Tehran rejects US talk claims

Iran and Oman have agreed on geographic coordinates for a new Strait of Hormuz navigation route, even as Tehran denies US claims of direct negotiations.
Efforts to restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remain divided between American claims of imminent progress and Iranian assertions of a localized agreement. Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaïl Baghaï confirmed that Tehran and Oman have approved geographic coordinates for a new maritime transit path through the strategic waterway, subject to condition that "third parties do not interfere with the process."
The announcement comes despite statements from Washington expressing optimism that a deal to lift the blockade could be finalized shortly. Iranian officials reiterated that Tehran is not engaging in direct negotiations with the United States. Tehran has restricted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz following the recent resurgence of hostilities with US forces in the region.
