Georgian police detained 10 anti-government protesters in Tbilisi on Sunday for displaying placards targeting ruling party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Georgian police arrested 10 anti-government demonstrators in central Tbilisi on Sunday following a protest involving crude slogans directed at the country's ruling party founder.

The demonstration began outside the Tbilisi City Council building on Freedom Square, where activist Tornike Toshkhua was initially detained for displaying a sign referencing Bidzina Ivanishvili, the billionaire founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party. Additional protesters subsequently gathered at the site holding similar placards, leading officers to make further arrests.

Tensions between anti-government activists and law enforcement in Georgia have remained elevated amid ongoing demonstrations against the governing party's policies.
