France is dealing with the aftermath of severe riots and store lootings following nationwide demonstrations over the cost of living.

France is confronting widespread damage following severe unrest triggered by nationwide demonstrations against high living costs and educational policy. While over half a million citizens participated in largely peaceful rallies, fringe groups engaged in extensive rioting, street battles with police, and business lootings across major cities.

Images of severe destruction, including a burned administrative building in Limoges, circulated widely online alongside artificially generated and misattributed videos. Law enforcement officers deployed tear gas and water cannons, arresting more than 2,000 individuals as hundreds of officers and demonstrators suffered injuries. In response, the French government introduced local curfews, pledged emergency financial aid to impacted shopkeepers, and moved to restrict the online resale of looted merchandise.
