Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has advocated establishing legal guidelines for holding elections once martial law lifts.

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called for establishing the necessary legal mechanisms to conduct national elections once the conflict with Russia concludes. Fedorov, who was removed from his post by President Volodymyr Zelensky in July, stressed that establishing clear electoral guidelines ahead of time is critical to preserving democratic stability after martial law ends.

Under current Ukrainian law, holding national elections during active martial law is prohibited. While President Zelensky has repeatedly stated that organizing elections during wartime remains impractical, Fedorov's proposals underscore growing domestic discussions regarding the nation's political future after hostilities end.
