The EU extended sanctions on Russia following a border train strike, while cross-border attacks continued and Zelensky dismissed Ukraine's prosecutor general.

The European Union has extended its sanctions against Russia in the wake of a strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the attack, characterizing it as an attempt to intimidate European partners and create political divisions.

Military engagements persisted across several fronts, with Russian shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region resulting in two deaths and 14 injuries. Simultaneously, Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Sochi and Russia's Belgorod region injured seven people.

Domestically, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree removing the national prosecutor general from office. These developments unfold alongside assertions by US President Donald Trump that Kyiv and Moscow had agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure.
