The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia following a border missile strike, as frontline attacks persist despite reported informal energy truce agreements.

The European Union has prolonged its sanctions against Russia after a missile hit a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. European Union diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot declared that the strike aimed to intimidate European partners and create internal division.

Concurrently, frontline violence persists despite recent reports of an informal pact between Moscow and Kyiv to refrain from targeting energy infrastructure. Shelling in the Kherson region resulted in two deaths and 14 injuries, while drone strikes hit Sochi and Russia's Belgorod region, leaving seven people wounded.

In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a presidential decree removing the nation's prosecutor general from office.
