Aid groups warn the Ebola outbreak in the DR Congo is spreading at an unprecedented rate, with over 3,600 cases and 1,800 deaths reported.

Health officials and aid organizations warn that the Ebola epidemic in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is accelerating at an unprecedented rate. More than two and a half months after the outbreak was officially declared, Doctors Without Borders cautioned that the crisis is "more critical than ever" as transmission surges despite frontline intervention efforts.

Data from the World Health Organization shows over 3,600 confirmed cases, marking the country's largest Ebola outbreak on record. According to the Congolese Ministry of Health, the death toll has passed 1,800, with a mortality rate of 45.3 percent. Transmission remains concentrated in Ituri province while affecting four other eastern and central-northern provinces. International emergency operations continue as global health agencies work to scale up containment measures.
