Search operations continue in Colombia following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake, with the death toll rising as rescue workers search collapsed buildings.

Emergency teams in Colombia continue searching for survivors following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck near San José del Palmar on 10 August. The tremor, which originated at an estimated depth of 107 kilometres and shook neighbouring Ecuador, caused severe damage to buildings and triggered a national state of emergency.

Reported casualties have risen significantly as emergency personnel reach damaged areas. Moldova1 indicates that the death toll has reached at least 164, while Digi24 and Ziarul de Gardă report at least 132 dead and more than 500 injured. Initial dispatches from Adevărul and HotNews reported lower preliminary numbers. Military and rescue personnel continue clearing debris amid warnings that casualty figures could rise further as search efforts proceed.
