Bulgaria probes a drone blast near a gas pipeline while Russian strikes kill civilians and depopulate Donetsk towns.

Bulgarian defense officials reported that a drone that detonated near a Trans-Balkan gas pipeline station likely belonged to Ukrainian forces and drifted off course via Romania. Kyiv denied targeting Bulgarian territory and pledged cooperation in a joint investigation. No casualties or pipeline damage occurred.

Simultaneously, intensified Russian strikes across eastern Ukraine resulted in at least three civilian deaths and nine injuries. Shelling significantly depopulated Druzhkivka in Donetsk Oblast, reducing its population from nearly 56,000 to under 4,000. Additionally, a power outage left approximately 99,000 subscribers without electricity in Chernihiv Oblast. According to the United Nations, July recorded the highest monthly civilian casualty toll in Ukraine since April 2022, exacerbated by increased long-range missile and drone attacks.
